For the wonderful folks here, I'll put it back: There was a Jack in The Box on the corner of Montrose and California, it caught fire and never reopened. The building sat abandoned for about a year and then demolished.

When J in the B closed up, White Castle was the only convenient alternative but I still remember suffering for that choice the next day. Now, just talking about onion rings or White Castles at 3 AM can give me indigestion now.

What years was it in operation? Posted by: gman. A McDonald's was, and is on the northeast corner. I don't remember when they closed and turned into a Duk's. I noticed I had made an error when we were driving east on Irving Park yesterday. Duks took it over later, and it now houses a Subway and a T-Mobile store. Getting old sure messes up your memory!
