I may try to find a contact and reach out. Durham is great! It is quickly gentrifying and and has a lot to offer. It has a bad reputation from years ago but is actually not as unsafe or "gritty" as people make it out to be. It has tons of art visual and music , great restaurants, and a real sense of community. Please don't discount it. The commute from Raleigh to Chapel Hill will frankly be an unpleasant one; but from Durham to Chapel Hill is not nearly as bad.
Durham is in the center of the Triangle which makes it a super easy place to commute to every other awesome place! Thank you for the information NYRaleighite! I'm assuming the middle and high schools IB programs would remain? They are all still in relative close proximity to one another. And thank you Mari- I would be concerned with the commute for sure to Chapel Hill should be husband's work end up being focused there, as it looks it would be.
We moved to reduce his overall drive time from around 2 hours a day to mere minutes he lives about a mile away from where he works now. The 3 IB schools in Durham are rated poorly and the reviews are certainly less than stellar. We're traveling up this weekend and plan to visit Chapel Hill, Durham, and Raleigh so hopefully we'll find an area we're comfortable in, close to IB schools, and within budget!
